If it is your first time visiting, I will
ask you some questions about your current physical condition,
medical history, experiences with areas of pain, areas that hold
tension, and whether there is any specific need you want
addressed.
Most massage techniques are traditionally
performed with the client unclothed; you may decide what amount
of clothing you prefer to wear for you own comfort.
You will be properly draped at all times
to keep you warm and comfortable.
Only the area being worked on will be exposed.
The massage takes place on a comfortable
heated and padded massage table. (If you prefer, the heat can be
switched off.) Expect a peaceful, comfortable, and clean
environment for the massage. Soft music will be playing; Your
massage time begins once you are on the table.
Depending on your needs, I will massage
the full body or focus on specific areas that need attention.
General relaxation or stress reduction sessions usually include
massaging all the major areas of the body. A session for a
localized injury or pain will concentrate mainly in key areas.
It is important to let me know
immediately if you feel any pain or if anything does not
feel comfortable to you. You are the one who knows your body the
best. Always make sure you are comfortable. This includes
adjustments not only in massage pressure (touch), but also in
lighting, music volume, positioning, etc.
After your treatment, please drink a full
glass of water — it helps flush out any toxins that were
released during treatment. Plan to take it slow for the next
hour or so. This allows the massage to settle into the body.
Most people feel relaxed and refreshed after a massage.
Sometimes, especially after a deep tissue massage, there is
post-massage soreness. This is nothing to worry about. After it
subsides (usually within a day), you should feel a great
reduction of your original muscle tightness and/or pain.
